BALANCING THE BODY PH

PH is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. The lower the PH number, the more acidic the solution is. The higher a PH number, the more alkaline the solution.

Your body’s chemistry in a healthy young adult, water accounts for approximately 70% of total body weight. This water, also known as the fluid of life which occupies two main compartments with the body. The intracellular (inside the cell) compartment and the extra cellular (outside the cell) compartments. It is vital for these two compartments to balance and to maintain an ideal PH range. Many vital bodily functions, including digestion, enzyme activity and hormone balance, are completely dependent upon the body to maintain this balance. If body PH is properly balanced, the bodily fluids will clearly demonstrate this factor. Ideally, the PH of the saliva will be 6.5-6.8, and the urine PH will fluctuate between 6.0 and 7.0.

Maintaining a perfect PH can be difficult. Fortunately, the body has three primary systems for maintaining ideal PH:

1. the respiratory system

2. the urinary system

3. the gastrointestinal system

4. liver

5. pancreas

Even with these built in protective systems, the body can become unbalanced through poor diet, stress, dehydration, chemicals and lack of exercise.

WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOUR PH MIGHT SURPRISE YOU

Most people who have unbalanced PH are acidic. This condition forces the body to borrow minerals; including, sodium, potassium and magnesium from vital organs and bones to buffer the acid and safety remove it from the body. This process can weaken this organs over time and contribute to a number of diseases. For this reason, high acidity has been called the silent killer.

Though less common than acidity, a person who is double alkaline both saliva and urine PH above 7.0 is less capable of excreting acids. The liver and bowel compensate by producing ammonia to offset chronic acidity. High alkalinity may be the result of exposure to alkaline chemicals, drugs such as antacids, or ammonia production from abnormal microbes in the gut. It often takes time and support to achieve balance if one is too alkaline. Add vitamin C to supplement program, extra probiotics, eat blueberries, cranberries, drink 7.0 water first and hydrate well.

THE HARMFUL EFFECTS OF AN IMBALANCED PH ON THE BODY SYSTEM


THE STRUCTURAL SYSTEM. Calcium stored in the bones is released to bind and neutralize excess acid in the tissues if the body’s first choice, serum and soft tissue calcium, is absent. An initial calcium depletion in the muscle can cause muscle cramps, but as calcium is pulled from the bone to neutralize more acid, the bone stores of calcium become depleted causing osteoporosis, poor back posture and back pain.


THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM. During conditions of excessive acidity, calcium, which was mobilized out of the bone to buffer the acid, can get deposited as arterial plaque. The plaque can stiffen the arteries. Depletion of magnesium (an acid buffer) can raise blood pressure.


THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM. When system PH is too acidic, the cells lining the stomach, small intestines and pancreas which are responsible for producing and releasing digestive enzymes, dysfunction. This dysfunction results in indigestion, gaseousness, bloating and abdominal cramping. Furthermore, fewer nutrients get absorbed from the food, and the entire body can experience malnutrition. Low acid in the stomach can create acidity in the tissues.


THE INTESTINAL SYSTEM. Excessive acidity causes the colon cells to dysfunction, which can result in diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation or diverticulitis. The disturbed acid/alkaline balance in the colon can also cause unfriendly microbes to grow and thrive, which can result in colitis, inflammatory bowel disease or hemorrhoids,


THE GLANDULAR SYSTEM. All of the endocrine glands produce hormones from enzymatic action. If the PH is too acidic the glandular cells cannot produce and release sufficient hormones for the body’s needs. The results in mood swings, blood sugar imbalances, fatigue, reproductive difficulties, etc.


THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM. The binding of oxygen to the hemoglobin protein of red blood cells in the lungs operates only at a fairly narrow PH range. If the PH is too acidic, microbes in the airways can grow much more easily, invade human cells, cause bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, etc. and in doing so, can result in cough, bronchial spasms and increased susceptibility to allergens.


THE IMMUNE SYSTEM. Immune cells that are too acidic do not produce antibodies or cytokines and they have impaired phagocytosis. As a result, the affected individual becomes susceptible to viral, bacterial, fungal and other infectious microbes.


THE URINARY SYSTEM. The urinary system helps eliminate toxic waste products from the body. Women especially can have some bacteria and/or fungi in their bladder. These microbes can grow rapidly if the urine’s PH is not in the proper range most of the time. In acid-excess conditions, calcium, which is mobilized from the bone to buffer the acid, can form stones in the kidney.
